A Golden Ticket

Sure, you could say that this truffle wasn't in one of my favourite childhood films: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I'm sure it could take it's place somewhere between an "everlasting gobstopper" and a "wriggle sweet".

For the Augustus Gloop's out there this is a Godiva chocolate truffle selling at a boutique near you! ;)

Fall Fashion

This shoot was from a while back, something that I have always wanted to post, but never got around to doing so.

This location was simply fantastic. With rain the entire drive to the location, it ended up being a beautiful overcast day, and managed to have a very successful shoot. Special thanks to Melissa (model), as well as Danielle, and Candice (wardrobe, Hair and make-up) for a such great job.

Stay tuned for some very exciting posts to come!

Help make it stop

Hey Guys,

I know this is a photo blog, and I rarely, if never, do I post without a picture of my own, but I thought I needed to help as much as I could.

This guys name is Brandt, and he has committed to starving himself until he has raised $16,000 to save 1 million kids.

Here is a evocative quote from his blog:

"I keep getting folks ask me if Im afraid that the money wont come, what will happen? Would I just allow myself to starve, or would I pull out just in time to restore my health. The fact is that these children have NO OPTION of being rescued from their hunger unless we are the ones providing those opportunities. If my life isnt worth $15,500 (or the facilitation of the health of 1,000,000 precious children), what have we become. When did we become the judges of who lived and died? How did we become a people who would fight to protect our comfort above the lives of innocent children whos lives slip away every single day from very preventable diseases? God forgive us. Give us new perspective. "

Please, even if it's small....... do something.

Fashion with 19 Days and Counting

School is winding down, Christmas is quickly approaching, and there is not enough strength to dedicate for both, so Christmas shopping will have to wait, because school is just UNreal.

Here is an independent fashion assignment that I have recently handed in. We had no boundaries, creative freedom! Loved it. My model was perfect for the job, and the location was begging to be captured!

Enjoy these last few weeks before Christmas, but make sure you stop and take time to breath, and soak up this beautiful time of year.

Time will Tell

Ok I know the title is Cheesy...

I love shooting product. I love the challenge of lighting something properly, problem solving the issues, and watching the product begin to light up and jump off the screen....lol...I think I have a problem.

I loved shooting this project, and I cant wait for more like it. Although, I am glad this semester is winding down...I need a break. That being said, there are still too many things that need to be done in the next two weeks.... but will I have enough time to blog?

I THINK SO!
So make sure you come on back!

Have a great day!

Tim Hortons

Coffee... how do you make a coffee advertisement look unique, interesting, and desirable?

We were instructed to create an advertisement in a direction that Tim Hortons has never gone. This is my solution! I was terrified when starting it, because I was afraid of what I was getting myself into, but knowing that I was capable I persisted, and the final product exceeded my initial expectations.

enjoy and expect many posts very very soon! Starting tomorrow! .... super pumped for the upcoming posts!

Narrative

As Promised:

Hey Guys, this was the largest production I have done so far. We had tungsten lights and strobes everywhere - everyone on the street thought that a movie was being filmed, lol.

enjoy.

Perfume

Wow,

20 days, how can they go by so quickly. I know, this is unacceptable, I will try to be more disciplined. This is an ad for my studio class. I was really pumped for this ad, and I am very ahppy of how it turned out. Thanks to my model (Mandy) and my makeup artist (Danielle), for such a great job.

More posts this week I promise! I am working on some great assignments this week, and I cant wait to post them, keep checking back!

Mush-a-boom

A beginning of a new month! November is officially here, and 53 days until Christmas, UNbelievable.

Sorry a that over a week has gone by and I haven't posted. This is an assignment that I will be handing in tomorrow morning. I am pretty happy with it, we will see how it holds up under critique tomorrow.

Our assignment was to create a still life, demonstrating the role of digital imaging as a tool. I felt kind of out of my element going with a space theme, but I am glad that I decided to not resort to a typical feel that I have in my images.

Cosmetics

For our latest studio assignment we were to design and create a cosmetic ad. This is not an offical "Covergirl" ad, we were instructed to put the branding on the image. We had to shoot the product and model. I am really happy how this turned out. Thank you to my model (Liz) and make up artist (Vanessa) for making this look as good as it does!

Self Portrait

Here is another assignment we had for photoshop. Now it was a self portrait, but we had to be an actor, symbolizing, or being someone else.

I chose to symbolize our culture.

Here is what I said when I presented it:

I am supposed to represent our culture and how we thrive on things like lust, selfishness, and other sins. It is so prevalent in all the advertisements around us. (side note: For example, jean ads are so sexual, because companies are trying to condition us to relate their brand of jeans to sexual pleasure. As for selfishness - all advertisements are geared toward bettering your own life, not bettering a community, hence we gorge ourselves with clothes, food, and entertainment, rather than solving world hunger, or giving a homeless person clothes). The TV is supposed to symbolize those things. We hold onto those things because we like them and how they make us feel - but in reality, they hold onto us even tighter. We think we get fulfillment out of them, but really what they are doing is sucking everything out of us. That is why there are nails in my other hand, symbolizing Christ. He has given us freedom from thses sins, if only we would embrace and hold onto him.

Basically we have two choices. There is a battle going on around us everyday, and victory is in the hand that we do not grip.

Thanks for reading guys, I really appreciate it! more posts to come soon!

R.

Time To Say Goodbye

Alright!

Here is my first sample of an assignment that I am handing in Tomorrow. I really dont like posting things on the web before I hand them in, but I caved in this time. This image is supposed to coincide with the classic song: "Time To Say Goodbye". It's supposed to be an album artwork for the song. Chris Botti sings this version. So play the song below, while viewing the image and let me know what you think!!

Have a memorable and impactful week everyone.

Reid.
